QR18 ANDANES (PATHWAYS)

The last floor houses the installations of the Centro Público de Formación de Personas Adultas de Enric Valor (Enric Valor Public Adult Education Centre), where students attend class in the four wings that comprise this complex. Likewise, there is a large interior glass corridor which encases murals with numerous graffiti artwork which represent naval images.

In its origin, the “andanas” (pathways) of the castell  were located on this fourth floor; they were used as a storeroom and for the breeding of silk worms, which was a firmly established industry in the town, as documented since the 15th century. This space was adapted to accommodate the new Enric Valor Public Adult Education Centre.

From the upper refurbished terrace, we can observe the monument from another perspective. In the central section of this space, a large square aperture opens from which we can view the cloister ad the gallery which enclose the courtyard of the castell.

The floor which was used in this level is completely new. It is comprised by ceramic tiles with a terracotta colour combined with different colours (yellow, red, blue and white) and installed in groups of three. Likewise, this entire composition, part of the lateral sections, and in the angles of the central space, are delimited by a row of white ceramic tiles.
